Liz Dalberg (født 1955, UK)
Inspired by the honesty of ideas I develop my visual expression through the materials I choose and their inherent aesthetic character or association.
Technique: Diluted Sennelier ink on watercolour paper, working on winter mornings, the temperature below minus five.
The presence of pigment in the water allows an insight into the transient patterns formed when water freezes. The pigment is sculpted by the forming ice so the patterns remain after the ice has melted. A process humbling to watch, the ‘ice drawings’ are quite fragile which is part of their beauty.
